ABOUT
THE BRIGADE
.

Our brigade consists of around 60 members from diverse backgrounds, including students, tradespeople, and professionals.

The Brigade Management Team is made up of officers elected by the brigade members every two years, along with a Brigade Support Officer appointed by the CFA.

Montrose Fire Brigade is part of the Knox Fire Brigades Group, which consists of eight brigades that frequently support each other in operations. The Knox Group includes Bayswater, Boronia, Ferntree Gully, Upper Ferntree Gully, Montrose, Rowville, Scoresby, and The Basin Fire Brigades.

BRIGADE MANAGEMENT TEAM.

The brigade is managed by a team of elected officials and appointed staff. Brigade officials serve for a nominal period of two years after which their positions come up for re-election at the Brigade's Annual General Meeting. Each official takes on the responsibilities defined for their role along with some specific additional responsibilities suited to their personal skills and knowledge.

OUR TRUCKS.

Montrose Fire Brigade currently has four trucks which are used for emergency response.

Montrose CFA Pumper

Pumper

The Pumper is a primary response unit and is used to combat structural and urban fires. The Pumper is equipped with an extensive inventory of operational equipment including hoses, branches (nozzles), ladders, breathing apparatus, chemical protective suits and other firefighting equipment.

Specifications:

  • Isuzu FTR 900 Type 3 pumper

  • 6.5 litre 6 cylinder diesel engine

  • Crew capacity of 6

  • Pumps up to 3000 litres per minute

  • Carries 1,800 litres of water

OUR OPERATIONAL EQUIPMENT.

In carrying out its emergency response responsibilities, the brigade will make use of a variety of specialist operational equipment. Some of this equipment includes:
